Go For The Gold

Many of you have been watching the Olympics and seen the athletes competing for the medals.  But the ultimate medal is the Gold Medal!  There are many of you that have been going through transitions now and ready to breakthrough into the “NEW” thing which God is bringing forth into the body of Christ!

August is the eighth month and the number eight means “new beginnings”.  But I also sense that many have gone through such intense trials that they are very weary.  An athlete has to push himself while training and his coach is constantly challenging him to go harder than the athlete thinks he can endure.  Also, mentally the athlete has to envision himself as winning the event.  Many top athletes and contenders will see themselves crossing the finish line or scoring the point.

In the Bible there is a scripture that applies to this.  In I Peter 1:7 it says, “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, thou it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor at the glory of the appearing of Jesus Christ”.

I hear the Lord saying, “Go for the gold!  Go for the glory!  This is the time that my church is going to shine.  Wake up and shake up.  I don’t care what has happened in the past…it’s time now to have a blast.  Run the race and you will find your pace.  Don’t look back at the season of lack.  But look ahead and run for the gold instead.  It’s another gold rush!  Get ready for the glory and the gold.  As long as you do what you are told.  It’s time now to be bold.  And I will give you back what the devil has stole.  And now is the time to cross the goal!  Go for the GOLD AND THE GLORY!

Michael Phelps – From ADHD Issues to Winning his 18th Olympic Gold Medal

Michael Phelps as a young man had very serious ADHD issues.  He had so much energy his mother felt she was going to lose her mind.  But then she enrolled him in swimming classes and he was like a fish out of water.  One thing Michael Phelps had was tenacity.  He hated to lose!  Many of you know that he just won his 18th gold medal (22 medals in all) at the Olympics.  I believe that this is a symbolic sign of Isaiah 22:22.  God is going to give us the key of David.  There are many keys that are being released to the church.  But we have to have patience, endurance and tenacity to not give up during times of hopelessness.  Every person in this world experiences these moments.  But we have to push past them and run for the gold.

Lonnie Frisbee Film Project

I have been working on producing a major motion picture about a man named Lonnie Frisbee for over five years.  After 3 screenplays and thousands of dollars spent – I finally found the writer who wrote the draft which I believe is the one God wants.  We just completed the script in May and now are putting together the package for final funding.  But in 2011 I was very discouraged and at one of the lowest places in my life.  I was suddenly awoken at on April 4 at 4:20 a.m.  My clock is not digital and it said, “4:4”.  I heard the voice of God say to me, “You are crossing over a threshhold, I am greenlighting your movie”.  The number 4 is the number of earth.  But 4/4 is about double portion and combined it says “8” or new beginnings.  Right after that time God started showing me how to raise the funds and they have been coming in.  If I would have quit after the 3rd script I would be no where today.  But I am pressing on for the prize – for the gold.  God told me to believe for an Oscar.  A gold statue!  Am I doing that for myself and for the glory!  No!  I want this one for the King and the Kingdom of God.

Sylvester Stallone’s Perseverance and the Script for “Rocky”

One last story to encourage you.  Sylvester Stallone was an unknown actor who had gotten a few bit parts in the early 70’s.  One day he was watching a fight between Mohammed Ali and a Caucasian fighter who happened to knock down the champ.  He was inspired to write a script about a boxer who would “go the distance”.  He wrote the “Rocky” script in an amazing two days.  He was going out on an audition for a role in a movie.  A famous producer was there who was casting for the movie and as Sylvester Stallone was leaving he happened to mention to this man that he had just written a script.  The producer told Sylvester to send it over.  Well, he immediately had the script sent and amazingly got a call and said that the producer wanted to buy it for $100,000.  This was amazing!  But Sylvester Stallone had to tell the producer that only he could play Rocky.  They turned him down!  They wanted to get Robert Redford or Ryan O’Neil to play the lead.  Sylvester Stallone was broke as a joke.  He couldn’t even feed his dog and had to sell Butkiss (he was the dog who played in the movie with Rocky).  But Sylvester persevered and finally the offer got up to $400,000!  Most people would have taken the money at that time.   But Sylvester held onto his belief that he was the only one who could play Rocky.  He wrote the role thinking of himself playing Rocky.
Finally, after months of nothing happening….something did!  A man who owned a boxing gym in Philadelphia happened to read the script.  He was very excited and called up the producer and said that he would put up 1.1 million dollars if the movie could be filmed in his boxing gym in Philadelphia.  Sylvester Stallone got the call of his lifetime.  He could play Rocky!  The rest is history.  The movie went on to win five Academy Awards!
So let’s believe that anything is possible!  Let’s go for the gold and don’t quit when things look bad.  Winston Churchhill was asked to speak at a college commencement ceremony many years ago.  He walked up to the podium with everyone looking at him with anticipation as to what he would say.  He walked to the podium, stopped, looked around and then he said these words, “Never give up, never, never, never give up”.  Then he turned around and walked away.
Just keep going.  Eventually the tide will turn and you will see the winds of change blowing you right on course.  Go for the gold!  Let’s believe that anything is possible if we don’t quit and believe what God has told us to do.
